Fantastic getaway or like new, year round residence within walking distance of Warden Lake, a 44-acre impoundment located 5 miles north of Wardensville in Hardy County, and easily accesible 4 miles off of WV Route 259 by CR 23/13 (Moores Run Rd). The cabin offers quiet seclusion with huge trees and a multitude of wildlife to watch from the large screened porch and deck. The loft inside makes a cozy place to read a book or entertain friends on both levels of cabin! Granite coutertops, SS appliances, wood stove and beautiful lighting hanging from the cathedral ceiling is super inviting and makes you want to light a fire and stay the weekend or a lifetime! The well and septic have been installed, as well as electric. Phone is also available. The lake is on a 110-acre tract purchased by the Division of Natural Resources in 1959. The lake was built in 1960 with a maximum depth of 21 feet and an average depth of 9 feet. There is one graveled boat ramp and electric motors only are allowed. Although no camping is allowed, drinking water and toilets are available, Warden Lake provides a warmwater fishery for largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, and northern pike. Trout are also stocked once in February and bi-weekly March through May. Several nice largemouth bass and channel catfish are also taken annually. Trolling with shallow and medium running plugs has proven very effective for bass and pike. Bottom fishing, especially in the old stream channel, with chicken liver produces large catfish. Aquatic vegetation affects approximately 50-75% of the lake surface by late summer and except for a few restricted areas, shoreline fishing is not practical at this time.
